Burns are extremely common injuries mainly affecting the skin and superficial tissues. Causes of burns may include contact with sources of heat such as hot liquids, open flames, heated objects, chemicals and electrical currents.
Christian Albert Theodor Billroth was a Viennese surgeon, medical scientist and musician in the late 19th century. He is widely considered the founder of modern abdominal surgery.
