ABCs of: Aortic Dissection – Understanding The Facts Behind

Aortic dissection occurs when a tear in the intima of the aortic wall causes blood to flow between the tunica intima and media. 1 It has a worldwide annual incidence ranging from 0.5 to 2.95 cases per 100,000 people; men over the age of 50 are predominantly affected. 1
