About our speaker

An alumnus of the prestigious Armed Forces medical college, Dr Anil qualified in 1975, and later obtained the MS (Gen Surg) & MCh (Plastic Surg) degrees too from the University of Pune. Thereafter he did post doctorate fellowships in Hand Surgery & Craniofacial Surgery in the UK & USA. He carried out extensive research in India & in USA in the fields of Plastic Surgery & in Aerospace Medicine.
Dr Anil served the Indian Air force for 39 years, rising to be the Director General of Medical Services before retiring in 2014. He has been the Principal as well as the Professor & Head of Surgery at major armed forces hospitals. He is the Examiner for RGUHS Karnataka, MUHS Maharashtra & National Board of Examinations and have guided several PG students for MS (Surg.) as well as M Ch (Plastic Surg.) programs. As head of medical services of Indian Air Force he conceptualized & implemented the “Patient Safety” program across all medical establishments of Indian Air Force. In recognition of his meritorious service, the President of India awarded him the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2010. In recognition of his professional excellence he was appointed Honorary Surgeon to President of India in 2013.
Currently he is the Director of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon.
