GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT
1. Abstracts should describe original work in the field of medicine/nursing/health sciences and related to the surgical field.
2. The abstract should not exceed 350 words excluding the title and author(s) details. It should use Microsoft Word format (.doc or.docx), single line spacing, A4 paper size (portrait) with margins of 1 inch (2.5 cm) on all sides of the page.
3. The abstract should have the following sections:
- Title
- Maximum 30 words in UPPERCASE. Font: Arial, 14 pt font size, centred
- List of authors should be written as follows:
Abbreviated First Name, Surname (Presenting author to be bold and underlined), Affiliations numbered in superscript and written below. Example as follows:
JK Tan1, P Siva2, A Rodriguez2
1 Monash University, Johor Bahru, Malaysia
2 Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru, Malaysia

- First and last name of all authors in the right order. Please indicate with * the corresponding author(s) and underline the presenting author. Font: Arial, 12 pt font size, centred.
- Affiliation(s)
- Department, institution/ hospital, city, state, country. Font: Arial, 12 pt font size, centred.
- Email of corresponding author
- Font: Arial, 12 pt font size, centred.
- Abstract text
- Font: Arial, 12 pt font size, single spacing and justified. It should be comprised of:
- Background
- Aim
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusion
- Font: Arial, 12 pt font size, single spacing and justified. It should be comprised of:
- Key words: Maximum of five (5)
- Mode of presentation: Oral or Poster (please indicate one)
4. A maximum of 3 tables of up to 10 rows x 10 columns can be included per abstract.
5. A maximum of 3 images (maximum file size 500KB, maximum pixel size 600(w) x 800(h) pixel) can be included per abstract. Please note that each image included in the abstract is worth 30 words.
