Testicular torsion is seen when a testicle rotates, twisting the spermatic cord that carries blood to the scrotum. The decreased blood flow causes acute and often severe pain and swelling.
A varicocele is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum. It is not uncommon and usually forms during puberty.
A hydrocele is a fluid collection within the tunica vaginalis of the scrotum or along the spermatic cord. It is usually painless and harmless and it resolves on its own.
